Generator-ready load centers
GenTran Corp. has introduced a line of generator-ready main breaker load centers, called GTV panels. Designed for residential or light commercial applications, the GTV panels allow consumers to feed generator power to a home or business during a power outage. By combining a main breaker panel with a generator transfer, the GTV panels reportedly eliminate the need to install a separate transfer switch for backup power at a later date. The GTV panel allows the building to feed power from a portable generator to the entire load center and manually select which circuits to run during a power outage--up to the maximum wattage of the generator. Each panel includes a generator and a utility breaker mechanically interlocked allowing power to feed the circuits from only one source at a time, preventing dangerous backfeeding.
GenTran said all models are listed by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) to standard 67 and are suitable for use in accordance with article 702 of the National Electrical Code ANSI/NFPA 70. All GTV panel models are service entrance rated for single phase electrical applications. Indoor and outdoor models are available.
