Pressure regulators run regardless of flow
Parker Pneumatic's new EPD Series electronic pressure regulators quickly and accurately adjust and maintain output pressure - regardless of flow - in relation to an electronic control signal. Available in a range of models and sizes, each EPD Series regulator incorporates an electronically controlled 3/3-way poppet valve with spring return to the mid position, a semiconductor pressure sensor, control electronics and an air operated volume booster for higher flow capacities. The working medium can be compressed air or an inert gas.In operation, outlet pressure from the EPD regulator is constantly monitored by the pressure sensor and compared with the required outlet pressure value.Whenever the outlet pressure is lower than the required pressure, the electronically controlled valve is opened until the two pressure values are the same.Similarly, if the outlet pressure is higher than the required pressure value, the valve shifts to exhaust air until the values are again equal. To give higher flow capability, the pressure regulator operates an air operated volume booster. The pressure sensor measures the outlet pressure of the volume booster.Typical applications for the EPD Series electronic pressure regulators include the control of thrust of spot welding electrodes; the control of the brake power on ship winch cable drums; control of direction of steering devices; the control of revolutions of marine engines. Also, the control of heating, cooling and ventilation on air conditioning systems; control of blowing pressures in the glass and plastics industries; monitoring and adjusting varying pressures in medical engineering applications; and the balancing of loads in mechanical engineering applications.
