Cummins Power Generation is a world leader in the design and manufacture of diesel and gas generator sets from 5 kW to 2.7 MW for standby, peaking and prime rated power systems. Kawasaki Gas Turbines-Americas, a division of Kawasaki Motors Corp., USA., is a leading manufacturer of small and mid-size gas turbine power systems from 200 kW to 20 MW employed in standby, peaking, base-load and combined heat and power (CHP) installations around the world.
"This distribution agreement with Kawasaki Gas Turbines-Americas will expand the range of power solutions that Cummins Power Generation can offer to its customers," says Ron Moore, Vice President and General Manager, Cummins Power Generation. "We are very pleased to have formed this alliance with a turbine manufacturer that has a global reputation for making efficient, reliable and low-emissions products. We feel that with the addition of these products, Cummins Power Generation will be well positioned to better serve the peaking, distributed generation and CHP marketplace."
Hiro Matsumura, president of Kawasaki Gas Turbines-Americas, says "This distribution agreement is well-suited to the longer term objectives of both companies, and it will allow us each to grow our business in a way that fits the strengths that we each have. It also presents opportunities for future cooperative marketing initiatives that will have a positive impact for both Kawasaki and Cummins Power Generation."
Kawasaki engineers have consistently delivered clean, versatile and reliable power through the company's gas turbine program. Recognizing the ever-increasing emphasis on the environment, Kawasaki is the first gas turbine manufacturer to list among its offerings ultra-clean, cost-effective combustion technology that utilizes a catalytic combustor instead of a flame, enabling continuous nitrous oxide emissions of less than three parts per million. The Xonon Cool Combustion(TM) system from Catalytica Energy Systems is matched with Kawasaki's core products to respond to today's challenges.
The agreement, delineates a multi-year alliance that will entail Cummins Power Generation marketing and selling Kawasaki gas turbine powered generator sets ranging from 1.4 MW to 7 MW. The products will be marketed under a co-branded designation in the Americas. Cummins Power Generation distributors will receive sales and service training from Kawasaki personnel. The two companies will share in certain marketing efforts related to materials and market development activities and may eventually expand geographical distribution.
